On Saturday December 19, 2009, the Kumamoto Friends Group sponsored its first annual Christmas Dinner.
Turkeys, corn, baked ham, salad, mashed potatoes, fruit salad, chocolates, beer, wine, special sparkling wine
for the toast and other foods were ordered specially for this dinner. The food was specially ordered from
America through an American company. The hall was decorated with a Christmas tree, lights and Christmas
carols were playing while friends entered the hall. In total, 44 people from various universities attended the
wonderful event. A few professors and secretaries as well as other working friends attended the event.
The night started with a toast. Following the toast, friends began talking and drinking. About 15 minutes
later, the turkeys were wheeled in followed by the hams. Other foods and drinks were on the table throughout
the event. After 1 hour of eating, the games began!! We played 3 different games which required speaking to
others at the party. At the end of the 4 hour party, people were able to make new friends and eat good
western foods.
University students and other Japanese friends around Kumamoto Prefecture were able to experience a
western style Christmas Dinner.
We hope more of our friends join this years Christmas Dinner. See you in 2010!!
