Some people in the world are not interested in making friends and making the world a better place. They are only interested in personal gain even if it means conning another person. Do not send money, samples, pictures or anything you do not feel comfortable with to a member. Do not believe you will gain sudden wealth by sending a small amount of money to help someone. Do not send personal information like your social security number, passport number, bank information or anything that may reveal your identity. Revealing such information could lead to identity theft.
13. Meeting a member
Some members are nice, but do not believe such e-mails that include such statements like, ".......just send me your passport number and I will buy your ticket to visit me...." If someone is really going to purchase a ticket for you, they do not need any of your personal information. We encourage all members to exchange e-mails for a minimum of 5 years before thinking about meeting a member in person. If you choose to meet a member, always meet in a crowded public place that is well lit such as a shopping mall, busy restaurant. Do not meet a person in a private place like a movie theater or dark places. Do not invite a member to your house.
